French Shopping for Clothes Dialogue and Practice
Situation Overview
You are shopping for clothes in France or another French-speaking area. You need to ask for a size, describe what you are looking for, try something on, ask for another color or size, understand whether an item is on sale, and pay politely. Shop staff usually use polite vous forms, and customers can use short, practical answers with bonjour, s'il vous plaît, and merci.

Grammar in Context
The dialogue uses aller à to describe how clothes fit: Elle me va bien. The clothing item is the subject, so the verb changes with the item: la veste me va, but les chaussures me vont.
French also uses object pronouns for clothing already mentioned. In Vous l'avez en taille au-dessus ?, l' means the jacket. In je la prends, la refers to la veste. For a masculine item such as le manteau, say je le prends.
For sizes, French shops often use letters with du: je porte du S, du M, or du L. For shoes, use je fais du 39 or je chausse du 39.
