Spanish Airport Check-In Dialogue and Practice
Situation Overview
You are at the airline check-in counter for an international flight. You need to show your passport, confirm your destination, check a suitcase, answer basic luggage questions, ask for an aisle or window seat, and understand where to go next. The airline agent uses polite usted forms because this is a formal travel interaction.

Grammar in Context
The dialogue uses tener for travel needs and belongings: Tengo un vuelo a Madrid, tengo una maleta, and ¿Tiene equipaje para facturar?. This is more natural than translating English I have to check in word for word in every sentence.
For obligations, use tener que + infinitive: Tengo que facturar una maleta means I have to check a suitcase. For possessions or bookings, use plain tener + noun: Tengo un vuelo, tengo una reserva, tengo equipaje de mano.
Notice the polite counter language with usted forms: ¿Me puede enseñar...?, ¿Tiene equipaje...?, and ponga la maleta.... These forms sound professional and normal at an airport.
