Spanish Pharmacy Dialogue and Practice

Situation Overview

You are at a pharmacy in a Spanish-speaking city. You need to explain a mild symptom, ask for medicine without a prescription, understand dosage instructions, mention allergies or other medication, and ask when to see a doctor. Pharmacists usually speak politely with usted, and clear practical phrases help avoid confusion.

Grammar in Context

The dialogue uses algo para + noun to ask for medicine by symptom: algo para el dolor de garganta, algo para la tos, or algo para la congestión. This is useful when you do not know the medicine name.

For instructions, Spanish often uses tener que + infinitive: ¿Tengo que tomarla con comida? means Do I have to take it with food? You can reuse it with other verbs: ¿Tengo que esperar?, ¿Tengo que volver?, ¿Tengo que llamar al médico?

The pharmacist uses polite commands with usted: tome una pastilla, beba bastante agua, no tome más de cuatro, and vaya al médico. These command forms are normal in professional instructions.
