Spanish Restaurant Ordering Dialogue and Practice
Situation Overview
You are eating at a casual restaurant in Spain or Latin America. You need to ask for a table, order drinks, choose food, ask for a recommendation, and request the bill politely. The server uses polite usted forms because this is a normal service interaction.

Grammar in Context
The natural dialogue uses polite questions with usted: ¿Tiene...?, ¿Quiere...?, and ¿Prefiere...?. These forms look like third-person singular verbs, but in a restaurant they mean polite you.
For example, ¿Quiere algo para beber? literally uses the same verb form as he/she wants, but the service meaning is Would you like something to drink?
When ordering, quiero means I want, but para mí often sounds softer and more natural: Para mí, la merluza.
