Situation Overview
You are buying groceries at a supermarket, small neighborhood market, or produce counter in a Portuguese-speaking city. You need to ask where products are, choose fresh fruit and vegetables, order a quantity by weight, understand checkout questions, ask for or refuse a bag, and pay politely. The dialogue uses everyday Brazilian Portuguese. In Portugal, sacola is usually saco, and you may hear talho for butcher counter and charcutaria for deli items.

Grammar in Context
The grocery dialogue uses ficar to talk about where products are located: Fica na parte de frios and O pão integral está no corredor três. Both ficar and estar can work for store locations, but ficar is especially common when asking where a section, aisle, or service counter is.
For quantities, Portuguese uses de after the amount: um quilo de maçãs, meio quilo de tomates, and meio quilo de uvas. When you do not give an exact quantity, use a general phrase like preciso pegar frutas or vou querer algumas mangas.
At counters, vou querer sounds more polite and natural than a blunt quero. You can reuse it with many grocery items: vou querer duzentos gramas de queijo, vou querer três pães, or vou querer um pedaço de bolo.
